Hi, I’m Marley!
And I’m your Registered Dietitian here at Ion+!
My journey to become a Registered Dietitian was a bit unconventional- I started my academic career at the University of South Carolina where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science. After 5 years and 3 major changes, I finally realized my two true loves in life: food and science. I took a gap year to do some soul-searching and some research, and after a few months I knew becoming a RD was the perfect way for me to combine my two passions. So, in 2016, I pursued my Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition at Winthrop University.
Throughout my graduate school career, I had opportunities to expand my knowledge of nutrition by performing field research with refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and residents of Matagalpa, Nicaragua. It was through these experiences that I learned just how much food and dietary practices shape us as human beings, physiologically and psychologically. Food builds community, and that is the environment I strive to create with my clients at Ion+.
I believe (and confirmed by peer-reviewed scientific research) that diet is not a “one size fits all.” It is a fluid practice that depends on your medical history, personal preferences, and lifestyle. That is what makes our nutrition plans here at Ion+ easily sustainable- you always get a say in what is (and is not) working for you!
Whether you are looking to manage a chronic disease, lose weight, or just build a healthy relationship with food, I will be there to support you every step of the way!
When I’m not pouring my heart and soul into Ion+, you can find me hanging out with my two pups and fiance Justin, drinking a cold beer outside on a sunny Colorado day, or cooking up something in the kitchen! I’m so happy that you’re here and can’t wait to help you start your journey!
